Medium Voltage (MV) Termination Heat Shrinkable for XLPE cable 7.2 kV up to 36 kV. EPKT-R & APKT
Termination Definition as per IEC 60502-4
- Termination: device fitted to the end of a cable to ensure electrical connection with other parts of the system and to maintain the insulation up to the point of connection.
- Indoor termination: termination intended for use where it is not exposed to either Solar radiation or weathering
- Outdoor termination: termination intended for use where it is exposed to either solar Radiation or weathering or both
General Design Parameters Termination
- Cable lug:
- Lug to meet relevant specification IEC 61238, ANSI C119.4
- Stress grading:
- axial and radial stress
- <= max. E-stress of the cable
- <= break-down stress in air
- axial and radial stress
- Flash distance (mm):
- in accordance with national / international standards i.e. IEC 60071-X
- Creepage distance (kV/mm):
- in accordance to pollution levels defined in guide IEC 60815
- Environment:
- Track & erosion resistant material i. e. ASTM D2703
- Low leakage current under humidity
Uncontrolled Electrical field at Screen End
Impedance Stress Control
Stress control tube installed, the Equip Potential lines are spread out, distributing the electrical field and reducing the electrical stress to the cable insulation’s operating level and along the end of the cable. In other words, the voltage drop per centimeter is well below the value breakdown in air. This is achieved by the unique resistive and capacitive properties of the Heat-Shrinkable material.
